Anthology History

One of the best things that happened while working on the original SENTINELS series was that I got to meet some amazing people. Going to conventions and connecting with people online introduced me to many different creators, readers, fans and collaborators. It was those individuals who inspired us to do the first Sentinels Anthology.

But both of us decided that it would be forced and not have as much meaning as the original story. What did interest us though, was how we would often hear from follow creators that they would love to contribute to Sentinels somehow if we were ever doing anything new. Luciano and I put the two ideas together and we came up with our Anthology idea. We would do a short story on the third generation Sentinels and then have other writers and artists do short stories on the main Sentinels team.

The stories would be bridged together using the third generation kids. All of this sounded great on paper, but then the work began! Coordinating and communicating with seven different creative teams was crazy! I still don't know how I did it. Promoting the book was the easy part though. In all the interviews I gave, it was easy to speak about all of the creators involved because I had formed a connection with them and spoke from the heart about each of them while promoting the book.

It was a successful project that really added to the Sentinels universe. And then that was it, Luciano began work on one of his other series, Cruel Things, and I began working on Neverminds and Bugged. We often toyed with the idea of re-visiting the series and coming up with a new idea for the third generation Sentinels. Image 5 And even though we had MANY requests to see more of the third generation kids, no ideas we had ever seemed good enough. That was until recently when we finally found something that we thought would be fun and interesting to do. The second Sentinels Anthology features over two times as many creators involved than the first one and introduces a completely new element to the Sentinels story. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as the first book!
